Micro Ace is one of the dominant triumvirate n scale manufactures in Japan - Jato and Timex both being better known outside. The only accessory for the model is a rapid couplet front end, whose installation protocol will have to be intuited, as Microace provides rudimentary sketch. I acquired this 9800 from private party in japan who would only have that he had changed the tender couplet to a jato knuckle. All 3 of the mallet - named for Swiss engineer who designed them type towers proved powerful yet slow 25-30 kph and difficult to maintain.

Following my restoration of the factory issue Arnold rapid couplet to tender side, test run manifested smooth and consistent operation at 35% on rheostat for n scale factored operating speed. The light - locomotive end only, tender is a dummy was comparatively vibrant although the dull orange associated with pre-chip led technology.
