It might be because the Santa Fe seemed to add as many appliances and much piping they could find places put things. We did NOT test the loco under conventional control, but see no reason to doubt its operation. Pretty rare actually. These include MTH DCS control, a powerful can motor, Proto sounds 3 cuffing with changes in speed, whistle, an optional air horn, Bell, Couplet sounds, crew dialogue, digitally controlled operating coil couplet on the tender, directional back up light, lit number boards, firebox glow, opening hatches, figures detailed cab, synchronized fan driven smoke unit, well valve gear, and lots of add detail.

This model is in superb condition; it really looks like new - a solid C8. This loco is about as close to brand new one can find. The Santa Fe used these locos for high speed passenger service, and they are quite husky looking engines. The DCS tells us: Odom - 6.59 scale miles Charon 1 Hr:35 Min:25 Sec, Hardly run at all!, This model has many, many features.

Our favorite was the two position manually reusable smoke stack. Makes for great detailing on a O gauge model !, This particular loco was from troop train set that MTH released. The valve gear is truly unique too. Happy buying everyone.

The station stop sound effects are quite interesting, as they refer to the troops on board with different forts and bases stops. Priced to sell. A must have addition for the Santa Fe fan. This beautiful Hudson type locomotive is a fairly recent production item from MTH and decorated for the Santa Fe Railroad lettered as road number 3465.
